http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/urbanlegends/ Everyone who uses e-mail, whether for business or personal use, is bombarded daily with messages from friends that make the most ridiculous assumptions and perpetuate lies! Alligators in the sewers, gangster initiations, weird crime scenarios (and even WEIRDER suggestions for fighting crime), health scares and feverish religious mania...The same e-mails go around endlessly. When one person group e-mails, each person in that group hits "reply to all" and sends it around again! This wastes time and bandwidth, and lowers our collective IQ as a society! Equally bothersome are those that say "You must forward this to 10 people or your wishes will not come true." I tried it -- I e-mailed it to 100 people while wishing my friends would grow up, get a life and quit wasting time with this childish nonsense. It has not yet come true, and therefore, I know for a fact that it is a false and fraudulent promise. I hereby propose that everyone who sends such an e-mail be required to go on snopes.com and read every single urban legend, then write a 100-page essay on why the stories are garbage and passing them around in e-mail is a form of pollution!
